At Gwinnett Dental Implant & Periodontal Center, we offer several dental services that help to replace your missing or damaged teeth.
Dental implant placement is one of the solutions we offer, and it can be ideal for you if you have lost or about to lose one or more teeth.
If you are considering getting dental implants, there are several solutions you can choose from, depending on your dental health condition and your preferences.
One of these dental implant solutions is the All-on-4 Treatment.
Understanding the All-on-4 Treatment Concept
The All-on-4 Treatment is a dental implant placement procedure, which involves using four dental implants on a jawbone to replace missing teeth.
The implants are placed on the arch, with two implants at the anterior and two implants at the posterior (each corner) of the arch. The four implants are used to support a dental bridge.
Who Can Get the All-on-4 Treatment?
The All-on-4 Treatment is designed for patients who have suffered multiple tooth loss – several missing teeth (including all on the arch) or all teeth missing. To be an ideal candidate, you must meet all the dental implant requirements, which includes:
• | Having healthy jaw and gums – the arch jawbone structure must also be sufficient to support the four implants. |
• | Being free of any oral health conditions that can cause implant failure – for example, gum disease, a bacterial infection of the gums, etc. |
• | Being of great overall health. |
Benefits of All-on-4 Treatment
The All-on-4 Treatment concept offers several benefits compared to other teeth replacement solutions. These include:
• | Minimal invasion – All-on-4 treatment is minimally invasive since it only uses 4 implants. Traditional implants, on the other hand, could use several more implants, including one for each missing tooth. |
• | Faster treatment period – the minimal invasion of the procedure plus the use of a dental bridge helps to shorten the treatment period. |
• | Faster recovery – recovery is faster with the All-on-4 implants due to the reduced implant placement. |
• | Bone grafting surgery is usually not needed - unless bone loss has occurred at the arch, bone grafting surgery is usually not needed. A traditional implant procedure, on the other hand, could require a bone graft procedure at the back of the jawbone due to insufficient bone. |
What to Expect During the All-on-4 Treatment
The All-on-4 treatment is just like a standard dental implant procedure.
It begins with a consultation to assess your oral health and determine if you are an ideal candidate. If the treatment is determined, it is carried out in the next session, unless procedures such as bone grafting are required.
On the day of placing the implants:
• | You are sedated using local or general anesthesia. |
• | You are prepared for the implant placement by removing the damaged tooth/teeth – if they are still in place. |
• | The implants are placed by cutting the gums to expose the bone, drilling holes for the implants, and then placing the metal frames. |
• | The surgical sites are then cleaned to prevent infection and sutured to seal the wounds. |
After closing the wounds, a dental bridge can be attached, thus restoring your teeth on the same day. Alternatively, you can wait for the implant sites to heal before returning for another visit for the placement of the dental bridge.
All-on-4 treatment concept is a great solution for multiple tooth loss, which helps to restore your smile with minimal invasion. Call us, Gwinnett Dental Implant & Periodontal Center, at (470) 222-8983 for more information about the treatment or to schedule an appointment!
